PSV narrowly lost to Atlético Madrid last time out in the Champions League, and were a missed penalty away from a draw. Rostov, meanwhile, visited Munich for a 5-0 defeat. Both sides now face an extremely uphill climb to get out of a group containing two of last year's semi-finalists. Domestically, each side are just outside the race for first, with PSV in third and Rostov in fifth. Eindhoven have had goals coming from across the squad, with 10 different goalscorers behind 14 Eredivisie goals. The Dutch side will be the favorites, but away trips to Russia are never guaranteed points.

Rostov - Team Overview

The Russian side are getting one hell of an introduction to the Champions League in their first year in the competition - a group featuring Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and PSV Eindhoven. But, you’d imagine their fans will be buzzing to welcome that trio to the 15,000 seater Olimp-2 stadium. The western Russia-based club are experiencing the best period in their 86 year history, winning the Russian Cup in 2014 and finishing as runners-up in the Russian Premier League last year after nearly being relegated the season prior. Over the summer they locked down their top scorer from last season, Sardar Azmoun, who was previously on loan. Realistically, being on this stage is an incredible achievement for Rostov and any results are an added bonus.

PSV Eindhoven - Team Overview

As the current Eredivisie champions, PSV qualified directly into the group stage. Their Champions League campaign last year included wins over each of their group opponents - Manchester United, Wolfsburg, and CSKA Moscow - before losing to Atletico Madrid on penalties after holding them scoreless for 210 minutes. Again, they’ll boast an impressive spine in Mexican internationals Andres Guardado and Hector Moreno, and Dutchmen at either end with Jeroen Zoet in goal and Luuk de Jong up top. With Bayern and Atletico Madrid in their group, they’ll need heroics to get out of their group for the second year running.
